There is a dire need for young people particularly young women to respond to the provisions and guidelines of national and regional policies and frameworks such as Maputo Plan of Action, Protocol on Gender and Development, African Charter on Human & People’s Rights, Continental Policy Framework on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and the Protocol to the African Charter on the Rights of Women.


Partners in Sexual Health (PSH) intends to provide training to young women and men, between 15 and 25 years old,  on SRHR leadership.  The project, funded by Ford Foundation, will capacitate and mentor young women and men already working and knowledgeable in the field of SRHR within Southern Africa, with Advocacy & Leadership skills to address issues affecting young people, and thus promote the implementation of policies and programmes that will particularly benefit young people.


PSH therefore calls on all interested young people to respond to this advert in writing on or before 31 January 2011 to Dumisani Gabula, e-mail address: or .  The criteria for selection to the programme are as follows: –

¨       You must be from either Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe or Namibia

¨       Have college education

¨       A short curriculum vitae (CV) / resume

¨       The candidate should write a short letter of motivation as to why s/he should be selected into the programme

¨       Demonstrate SRH background

¨       Demonstrate leadership qualities

¨       Possess good communications skills, written and verbal

¨       The candidate must be computer literate.

¨       The candidate must also produce a letter of reference from the organisation s/he is working for preferably by the organizational management staff member

¨       The prospective candidates should also be prepared to complete a 2-week training programme in South Africa


All expenses will be paid for by Partners in Sexual Health.  Those will be limited to travelling and accommodation.
